About Us

Bernadette Scatchard qualified from Bradford School of Physiotherapy in 1984. During her NHS career she worked at both St James’ University Hospital & The LGI before working full time in Private Practice since 1990. Her experience working in sport medicine is extensive as Team Physiotherapist for Harrogate Town AFC, York RLFC & Castleford RLFC as well as GB Rugby League and taking the position of Secretary to the Rugby League Medical Association in a career spanning 14 years.

Marie Griffiths qualified from Withington School of Physiotherapy in 1985 and worked in the NHS at St James’ University Hospital, Halifax Royal Infirmary & Pinderfields Hospital Spinal Injuries Unit. She began her 12 year career in sport at Morley RUFC during which time she also held the positions of Team Physiotherapist for Yorkshire RUFC & North of England RUFC, both at Under 21 level becoming the first female at Twickenham when Yorkshire U21’s won the County Championship. She then changed codes and worked as Team Physiotherapist for Bradford Northern RLFC, latterly Bradford Bulls RLFC.

Bernadette & Marie have now been business partners for 24 years, & over the last 10 years they have dedicated their efforts to developing the general practice, going on to work for many years with The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Opera North, Northern Ballet Theatre, a number of West End Touring Production Companies and several local professional musicians.

They are both actively involved in sport at a personal level, running regularly at ˝ marathon and 10K distances, and have raised thousands of pounds for local and national charities. Bernadette also completed the gruelling 3 Peaks Challenge on more than one occasion, recording very respectable times & ran 2007 Flora London Marathon in a “staggering” time of 4 hours 39 minutes!!

Steve

Stephen Kirk qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2000 with a BSc(Hons) in physiotherapy. Since then he has worked extensively in the NHS in both Leeds and Harrogate, where he still works as the Lead Clinician in Lower Limb Rehabilitation. Stephen therefore has very strong links with all the Orthopaedic Consultants and is in touch with all the latest operative procedures and surgical management of orthopaedic conditions. Previously he has worked with both Otley RUFC and Hull KR RLFC where he was responsible for all aspects of the team’s medical management. More recently he has specialised in the assessment and treatment of golf related injuries and injury prevention. He has recently attended workshops held by the English Golf Union at Woodhall Spa. This training led to him setting up The Leeds Golf Physiotherapy Clinic which he runs in conjunction with The Leeds Sports Injury and Physiotherapy Clinic.
